Breast Reduction

Large breasts can become heavy, cumbersome and even painful. Michael Schwartz, M.D. is a board-certified facial plastic surgeon and diplomate of the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery who offers breast reductions to men and women who live in and around Los Angeles, Pasadena and the surrounding communities of California.

What is a Breast Reduction?

A breast reduction can reduce the size of natural breasts to achieve a more proportionate, comfortable result. The benefits of breast reduction include enhanced mobility, comfort and confidence. This procedure offers very natural-looking results.

For many women, large breasts can cause back chronic pain, back problems, poor posture and differences in lifestyle (changes in exercise, activity and clothing). If this is the case for you, it may be time to consider a breast reduction, which can help with all of these concerns.

What is the Breast Reduction procedure?

Dr. Schwartz uses a similar method in breast reduction procedures as he does during breast lift procedures. During a mastopexy, or breast lift, a vertical incision is made on the underside of the breast and then Dr. Schwartz eliminates excess skin and repositions the nipple. During breast reduction, Dr. Schwartz will remove excess skin and reposition the nipple, in addition to removing breast tissue. The amount of breast tissue removed will be determined at your consultation when discussing your desired result for the procedure. The incision is then closed and you are left with smaller, perkier, more uplifted breasts.

How is the recovery following a Breast Reduction?

The breast reduction surgery is very well researched and Dr. Schwartz is an expert in the field. You will be prepared for a speedy, healthy recovery immediately following your procedure. You will notice results immediately, but will continue to develop optimal aesthetic outcomes for the next few months.

Am I A Good Candidate for Breast Reduction?

Breast reduction surgery is recommended for most women who find that their large breasts restrict them or cause pain in any way. Most candidates who undergo breast reduction cite more than one reason for wanting the procedure, ranging from medical to emotional. If you consider your large breasts a stressor in your life, you are not alone. Breast reduction procedures can help you achieve enhanced self-esteem, mobility and comfort.
