How Is a Facelift Performed?
Dr. Schwartz will initiate your facelift by creating a very precise and inconspicuous incision that typically starts in the hairline at the temples, continues around the ear and ends in the lower scalp. Once the incision is made, Dr. Schwartz will delicately reposition fat and underlying tissue from your face, jowls and neck to other areas, such as cheekbones, to create a more defined and youthful contour. Typically, the muscles of the face are also lifted and sculpted to perfection, and the skin is then ever so gently draped over the uplifted contours.Any loose, excess skin will be removed. In some cases, a second incision is used under the chin to sculpt and tighten sagging skin in the neck. Dr. Schwartz will close the incision and provide you with very specific instructions to help you in your recovery. Dr. Schwartz is careful to not elevate the earlobe during facelift surgery and to replace the skin without tension in order to achieve the least noticeable scar possible. By keeping the earlobe in its normal anatomic position and not over-resecting the skin, the earlobe will not take on a tethered appearance, one of the telltale signs of a poorly performed facelift. Dr. Schwartzis also extremely careful in his incision planning and closure so as not to distort the hairline behind the ear and to avoid scarring in this area as much as possible. Dr. Schwartz is an expert in facial cosmetic procedures and you can be confident that he understands all the details of performing this surgery on you.
Face Lift Recovery
During your facelift recovery, a bandage may be placed around your face by Dr. Schwartz to minimize swelling and bruising once your procedure is completed. Thin tubes may be present to drain any excess blood or fluid that may collect under the skin. You will be given specific instructions by Dr. Schwartz that may include how to care for the surgical site and drains, medications to apply or take orally to aid healing.
How Much Does a Facelift Cost?
The cost of your facelift with Dr. Schwartz will vary from patient to patient, and is personalized to you and your needs depending on your unique problem areas and the treatment. In some cases, the facelift is augmented with dermal fillers or other non-surgical procedures to further enhance your youthful appearance. As with most elective cosmetic procedures, insurance carriers do not typically cover facelifts, but Dr. Schwartz’s office makes the procedure affordable by offering easy financing through Prosper® Healthcare Lending, in addition to accepting payments in the form of cash, personal checks, and credit cards.
