Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty) in Los Angeles, CA
Are you unhappy with the current shape or size of your tummy area? A problem area for many, the tummy is a place the body naturally stores fat and can produce sagging skin. The tummy tuck procedure can correct excess fat and skin and tighten abdominal muscles to achieve a more toned, taut appearance to the area. Michael Schwartz, M.D., is a board-certified facial plastic surgeon and diplomate of the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery who offers the tummy tuck to women and men that live in and around Los Angeles, Pasadena and the surrounding communities of California.
What is a Tummy Tuck?
Abdominoplasty, or tummy tuck surgery, can improve the shape and contour of the abdomen to give you the body you desire. Many women, especially after pregnancy, experience sagging skin and excess fat around their midsection. Even with proper diet and vigorous exercise it may be hard to get the results you really want. Men who have lost significant amounts of weight will experience excess skin and fat in the abdomen as well.
With an abdominoplasty procedure, cosmetic surgeon Dr. Michael Schwartz can remove the excess skin and fat and tighten muscle in the tummy area to help patients achieve a firmer, flatter stomach. As a result, our tummy tuck patients fit better in their clothes, are more confident with their bodies and experience higher self-esteem. With our new Vaser Abdominoplasty procedure we can now radically improve the shape of the torso during the tummy tuck procedure.
The Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck) Procedure
A tummy tuck is performed while the patient is under general anesthesia. The abdominoplasty surgery usually begins with Vaser lipolysis of the back and flanks, followed by Vaser lipolysis of the abdomen. Next, excess skin is removed and the abdominal muscles are tightened with permanent sutures to further enhance the shape of the abdomen and flanks. The area is closed and a compression garment is placed. Dr. Schwartz is using the most innovative methods to create a natural and attractive belly button (umbilicus) which makes for a more natural unoperated look.
Results and Recovery Following the Tummy Tuck
Our Pasadena and Los Angeles area tummy tuck patients are usually thrilled with their abdominoplasty results. With a smoother, tighter tummy area, women and men feel more confident with their appearance. With a healthy diet and regular exercise program, most patients can maintain their abdominoplasty results over time. Although post-surgical scars are unavoidable after a tummy tuck, Dr. Michael Schwartz will place incisions so that scars can be easily concealed by the patient’s swimsuit or underwear. Over time, the post-tummy tuck scars will fade considerably.
Am I A Good Candidate for a Tummy Tuck?
If you have excess skin and fat in the abdomen you may want to consider a tummy tuck. In many cases Dr. Schwartz will recommend Smartlipo™ or Vaser Lipo which can provide significant skin tightening and avoid a tummy tuck, however if there is significant skin excess, most likely a tummy tuck is required. The tummy tuck is most successful in candidates that are in otherwise good health and practice a healthy diet and exercise routine. This will help the tummy tuck procedure to last for as long as possible and give you the most noticeable results possible as soon as possible. To determine your candidacy for a tummy tuck, schedule a consultation with Dr. Schwartz today.
